I can see it now. Dom is going to go to jail because Aston is fucking her boss. If she's not... she better had stop being stupid and notice the new Dom. She got too much shit piling up on her right about now, and none of us want to see that shoot first, ask questions later Dom. smgdh. Aston step it up. If he don't kill him, there is already little miss Cara at the shop that want him. (and a shit load of ff readers plottin'.)
LMAO at how Cease predicted that she was gon say she had a headache. Good chapter but Aston is being really distant. They used to be close and shit and now they're not even talking. I can't wait for her to get caught. Then she'll realise that Chris is a good guy. How many men do you find these days that genuinely care for you and give you attention? But I hope it's not too late to realise what she has... ~ a.s
Dom still has a lot of work to do as a person. but he has come a long way, a looong way. and if aston has been lying on him and/or cheating he is going to snap, crackle and then pop and NO ONE needs the old Dom back. especially not Aston. whatever she has going on she needs to come clean before shit gets out of hand.
ugh i hate how Dom is acting. he's constantly being controlling towards aston and he expects her to give him pussy, NIGGA NO. where they do that at? that strikes a chord in me personally, lol i hate controlling guys. although he says he trusts her, i think he has a tiny piece of doubt within him about her faithfulness. cease is right about women liking attention and it being refreshing to have a new guy give her attention, i think maybe aston is bored with Dom with all the fighting and BS and--
I heard the front door alarm sound off and that was sign that Aston was home. It was almost six and I knew that she would make it home around this time so that’s why I made sure that Donovan was upstairs preoccupied in his room. I heard her heels click on the floor until the came to an abrupt stop. I knew she was surprised to see me on here.
“You ready to talk?”
“I just go in the door. Let me get settled before you start bitchin‘ at me.”
“You‘ve been standing here for about two minutes. You look pretty settled to me.” I said as I got up to face her.
Yeah, I was still pissed about earlier but I’ve had some time to think. But it seems like the more I thought about it, I became more pissed.
“Okay. You wanna argue. Fine, lets argue.”
“Nah. We not gon‘ argue. I‘m gonna talk and your gonna listen. Now here it is; you‘re gonna quit that job and that‘s final.”
She looked at me as if I was crazy but I was dead serious. I wasn’t about to have my fiancé workin’ for that nigga casue I aint trust him. And Aston is just dingy as fuck so she wouldn’t know if he was hittin or her or being nice.
“What? I am not quitting my job.”
“Yes you are.”
“Where is this coming from? What made you come to this conclusion?”
“Where is this coming from?” I asked incredulously.
“Aston, this nigga was clearly all up in your face today and then he had to nerve to belittle me. I don’t like that, nor do I like him so you‘re quitting.” I said finally and walked away.
“Dominic, you‘re acting like a fucking child!”
“No!” I said while turning around.
“You‘re acting like a fucking hoe letting this nigga that close to you.”
“Wow, so that really makes me a hoe? You‘re unbelievable. And now you see why I don’t tell you shit because of shit like this! You do the fucking most for no reason.”
“So I see this nigga all up on you and then this nigga disrespects me, and I‘m doing the most? Okay, that‘s fine. But you‘re quitting and that‘s final.”
“And if I don’t?” she challenged, folding her arms over her chest.
I was sorta taken back. I dimmed my eyes at her and challenged her back.
“Try me, Aston. I want you too.”
With that I walked away and headed out the door.
“I don’t know, man. I‘m just feelin‘ some type of way. It‘s like she‘s been hella sneaky lately, then I go to her job to see this nigga.”
“Maybe you‘re overreacting.” Cease said as he took a swig of his beer. Me and Cease were chillin, havin a beer at the bar. I really wanted to get fucked up right now because my mind was all over the place but I knew all I needed was a beer or two to calm my nerves.
“How am I overacting, man? You aint see how this nigga was lookin‘ at her man. It was like she was a piece of meat to him and she was just eatin‘ that shit up, Cease. I walk in and she laughin‘ and giggling‘ like a fucking little girl.”
“Maybe she just like the attention. You know women like attention.”
“What? I give Aston enough damn attention.” I huffed and took a sip of my beer.
“Shit, I damn near worship her.” I mumbled to myself.
“But it aint the same. I mean, how long you been with Aston? Some years right?”
“Okay, I mean some attention from somebody else is refreshing for her.”
“She don’t need to be no damn refreshed. Look, whatever the fuck it is, it needs to be stopped. So, I told her that she needed to quit her job.”
“Damn, man. What she say?”
I sucked my teeth.
“She had to nerve to tell me no.”
Cease looked at me for a second and then started laughing.
“Nigga, you are controlling.”
I gave him a look and he just laughed even harder. I think this nigga had too many beers. I aint controlling. He can go up the street with that shit.
“Nigga, I aint no damn controlling. I just don’t want her working with a nigga. I know what that nigga want and he can‘t have it.”
“And that is?”
“And you so sure, huh? Tell me Dom, when was the last time you got some?”
I literally had to think about it ‘cause it’s been a minute. And it was kind of odd cause me and Aston always fucked. On a regular.
“Nah, nigga. You had to think about it that means it’s been some time.”
“It has.” I sighed, “That‘s probably why my ass so stressed out. ”
“Well, I got an idea. Look, usually women don’t fuck different men at the same time. It‘s rare, but usually it doesn’t happen. So if she aint fucking you, maybe she fucking somebody else.”
Instantly my jaw started to clench and I could feel myself getting heated.
“ I know Aston aint cheatin on you nigga. But, maybe you should give her the test.”
“Okay, so tonight try to get it in. and if she turn you down and use some lame excuse like she got a headache then you have something to worry about.”
I was already in bed and Aston was just now getting in. She had not talked to me since I came back from the bar with Cease. I knew she was mad and I was low-key mad too. But I just wanted all of this to end.
“Baby, I‘m sorry about earlier and maybe I overreacted.” I said as soon as she got under the covers.
“You did Dom. You did overreact.”
“Okay,” I said as I put my hands up. “I did and I‘m sorry. You don’t have to quit your job its just sometimes… Aston you just gotta be careful. Niggas out here are grimy and they‘ll do anything to get at you. Even if you got a man, they don’t care.”
“Dom, my boss is not tryna get with me. He‘s just…nice, which I appreciate. It‘s nothing going on and nothing is ever gonna happen. You just gotta trust me. I trust you. ” she said looking at me sincerely.
She was right though. She trusted me. A little too much sometimes. Aston didn’t have a problem with me going to clubs or anything like that. When women would deliberately flirt with me in front of me she never said anything about it. I was always the one shutting bitches down. She was too confident to concern about other bitches.
“I trust you, Aston. I just don’t trust him. But it‘s all good. If he ever get out of line, let me know.”
She nodded then smiled before kissing me.
I deepened the kiss and ran my hands over her body. Just as I was about to lay her back she slightly pushed me away.
“What?” I asked.
“Not tonight okay. I‘m not in the mood. I have a slight headache.”
With that she turned around and got comfortable in the bed.
She tried to flip the script on my nigga Dom, then she lying all over the place. Not saying anything is also lying. I'm with Dom something is up with her. She taking them pills but I don't think it has anything to do with her not wanting a baby with Dom. I cant believe she really tried to flip the script on my nigga. She's being too sneaky for my liking.
.... Team Dom. I mean her boss is Fine and all but he tried it with the " Your a delivery guy right " shit. like nigga. He must not fuckin know! then aston or whatever wanaa act all nervous and shit. she being a lil to nervous for my liking. then when he leaves her ass she wanaa play the cryin game with her cryin ass. "personal assistant " my ass! - KC
AW HELL NAH MUTHAFUCKA. I love and appreciate how Dom is acting after all this new information that Aston has been sneaking around. I felt Parker showed disrespect towards Dom. Aston; Dom's fiance didn't do shit about it but stand there like a dumbass. How she not gonna defend her man. I understand Dom completely about people touching his son, shit I'de feel the sameway. Every Chapter there is more fishy shit she got going on and I ain't feeling it and neither is Dom. Aston get it together now.
Ashton, im not calling you a liar per se. im just saying that every time you start your answer with "uh" it doesnt look 100% honest... dont hold it in. just be real. the truth is the truth and dom will deal... eventually... in his own retarded ass way.... probably... maybe... yeah, well whatever happens you'll be aight.
I was right, and it felt so good to be right. I watched as she scurried around the room that Monday morning looking for those damn pills. I knew that’s what she was looking for cause usually she would ask me if I knew where something was, but she has yet to open her mouth and she been running around for about ten minutes. It was almost seven-thirty and I know she had to be out the door soon for work. I was just up, laying in the bed, enjoying the view. A smirk was placed on my lips when I saw her turn a shade of red. She was frustrated, and now I was about to fuck with her.
“Whatcha lookin‘ for babe?”
She slightly jumped and looked toward the bed.
“I thought yo were still sleep.”
“Well, I was. But you in here making noise.”
“Oh” she said sheepishly. “I‘m sorry. I‘m about to leave. ”
“But whatchu lookin’ for though?” I asked sitting up the bed.
“Oh. It‘s nothing.”
“It must be something ‘cause you tearin‘ up the room lookin‘ for it.”
She ignored me and went in to the closet. I could hear her in there moving stuff around. She would not quit.
“So when was you gon‘ tell me that you was on birth control?” I asked loud enough so that she could hear me.
It was quiet, so I knew she heard me.
She slowly walked out the closet.
“I said when were gonna tell me you was on the pill. I know that‘s what you in here lookin‘ for.”
“What did you do with my stuff?”
“No. You don’t get to do that. You need to answer my question.” I was getting upset cause she was running around the truth.
“When were you gonna tell me that you were taking fuckin‘ birth control when my stupid ass thought we were tryin‘ for a baby!”
She took a deep breath and wouldn’t even look me in the eye. I could feel myself getting hot the more I thought about it. I didn’t want to yell but I felt myself about to get loud and real upset.
“Dom, please. The time is not right for-”
“Bullshit!” I yelled as I got out the bed.
“Keep your voice down before you wake up Donovan.” she had the nerve to cut her eyes and chastise me.
Some nerve, huh?
“All I wanna know is why you was takin‘ birth control. Bein’ sneaky and shit, doin’ it behind my back. And don’t you even dare give me same tired ass excuse. ‘Cause if you say that one more time, I swear. ”
She still wouldn’t look me I the eye and I hated that. It gave me the feelin that she was about to lie to me.
“Dom,” she started then took another deep breath. I could see the softness in her eyes and it almost made me forgive her. But then there was that thought lingering in the back of my head. Why was she being sneaky?
“I was taking because I didn’t want another baby.”
“Why though? Why didn’t you just tell me that when we discussed having another kid, Aston? ”
“You mean when YOU discussed it. YOU said we should have another baby. You didn’t give me any say.”
I looked at her like she was crazy.
“The fuck? No, we had a discussion about this. We talked about having another kid and you agreed.”
“I didn’t agree.”
“But you never said you didn’t want to have one either. And if that is the case why didn’t you just say so.”
“Cause!” she said as she threw her hands up in the air obviously frustrated.
“Cause, what?” I asked just as frustrated. She wasn’t making any sense. If she aint want another baby, why she just aint say so?
“Dom, you are why.”
“Me? The fuck I do?”
She slightly shook her head and wiped the side of her face.
“If I would‘ve told you that I didn’t want a baby you would‘ve gotten all hot and bothered. At first, yes, I was all for adding another child to this family. But after a while I began to think. We‘re not even married, Dom. I‘m not trying to have another baby out of wed-lock.”
“And who‘s fault is that ? You the one who aint tryna marry me!” I said loudly, not giving a damn how loud I was.
“We‘re not doing this right now.” she mumbled as she turned around but I grabbed her arm and stopped her before she could move any further.
“Let me go.”
“Nah. Look, I‘m not gonna yell. Just…let‘s just talk about this, aight? Why didn’t you just tell me you aint want another baby?”
“I already told you, Dom. Whenever things don’t go your way you get hotheaded and start making crazy ass assumptions. It never fails. ”
She then lightly chuckled and shook her head.
“You know its funny, it‘s really funny how when you proposed you promised that you were gonna be less controlling but that change never came”
I licked my lips and let go of her arm. As much as I hated to admit it, she was halfway right. I still had my moments but I thought I had improved somewhat.
“That still is not an excuse for you lying to me though.”
“Okay,” she said as she put her hands up, “That‘s fair. I shouldn’t have lied. I‘m sorry.”
I overlooked her for a moment and a part of me still felt funny about all of this. I don’t know what it is, but I still didn’t feel satisfied.
“But, look. I gotta go. I‘m already late.” she quickly kissed me before grabbing her bag off the bed and walking out. _____________
Donovan and I were on our way to bring Aston lunch. I thought about what had happened earlier and maybe she had a point. I had thought I had changed my ways but maybe I really hadn’t. I didn’t wanna be controlling. Its not my intention to be controlling. I figured that’s what been keeping her from marrying me and now I have no one to blame but myself.
“Don’t drop your mom‘s food.” I said as I looked down at Don holding the Chipotle bag in his hands. We walked into the building and headed toward the elevators. Once we got on I pressed the right floor number and waited for the doors to close.
I always wondered why Aston got this damn job. She claimed that she hated being at home doing nothing all day. I mean, I wasn’t complaining about her having a job ‘cause she would be spending her own money on shopping instead of mine. But I just didn’t like having Don at daycare. I didn’t know who those people were and what they were doing with my son, so at first I wasn’t comfortable with the idea. But neither one of us was quitting our jobs so I had to get used to him being there. But whenever I was off I had him with me.
When we reached her floor I walked up the front desk and saw that the receptionist was on the phone. I was a bit confused cause I thought Aston worked at the front desk. At least that’s what she had told me. I waited until the woman was off the phone and then asked her where Aston was.
“Oh, she‘s in the office straight back. The door says Parker. ”
“Oh, Okay. I don’t know why I thought she was the receptionist.”
“She was. But then she was moved to Mr. Parker‘s personal assistant. ”
“Oh okay.” I nodded then headed toward the door that said Parker on it.
So she aint tell me that she switched positions?
But let me stop overreacting.
Before I opened the wooden door I turned to see that Donovan wasn’t even behind me.
“The fuck?” I mumbled and walked back to the front to see him lifting up his shirt.
“You see my sith pat.”
“I am so sorry.” I apologized to the lady and put Don’s shirt back down.
She was too busy laughing at Don’s ass to even notice how embarrassed I was.
“What are you doing son? And why you got your momma‘s food on the floor?”
I picked up the bag and tried not to show how irritated I was.
“It‘s fine. He‘s too cute.”
I just smiled politely as I grabbed his hand and headed back down the hall.
Before I opened the door I leaned down toward Donovan.
“When I walk away, you follow. I‘m not tryna lose you in this building. So do not leave my side, understood?”
He nodded giving me his sad eyes.
I grabbed his hand and opened the door to see Aston sitting behind a desk laughing hysterically while some nigga in a suit was leaning down a little to close to her.
Good thing I ain’t even have to say anything ‘cause Don was the one who got us noticed.
“Mama!” he yelled as he ran toward her.
She looked up with a shocked expression on her face as if she was caught. I ain’t like that look one bit.
The nigga next to her looked up as well but he sure did take his slow ass time from leaning on her desk. He then stood up straight and glanced down at Donovan as he went around Aston’s desk to hug her. His eyes lifted up to me and we held strong eye contact for a little longer than I would have like. He was sizing me up from a distance and I aint like that either. This nigga was throwing me off and his presence was irking the shit out of me. Who was he anyway?
“What are you guys going here?” Aston asked still looking at Donovan.
“We brought you lunch.” I held up the bag and finally took a step into the office. It was like an office inside of an office. It had a small lobby, with maybe four chairs against the wall. There was a door straight ahead which I assumed was Mr. Parker’s office.
“Oh. Thanks guys. I‘m starving.” she smiled up at me and for some reason I couldn’t return her smile. I know I had to have this nasty look on my face ‘cause Aston’s smile fell and she nervously looked over to this nigga who was still lookin’ at me.
Can I just hit this nigga one time? Just one time.
I knew Aston could feel my irritability rising cause she suddenly stood and laughed slightly.
“Um, Dominic, this is my boss; Mr.-”
“Parker. Ahmad Parker.” he said proudly and stuck his hand out for me to shake.
I looked down at it cause I really didn’t wanna shake this nigga’s hand. First off, he was too close to my fiancé and I aint like that shit. Then he has this demeanor that I don’t like. He was too proud and I don’t like people like that. They swear they’re better than you and I knew that’s what this nigga was thinking with this fake ass handshake he was offering.
But I shook his hand though, only cause he was Aston’s boss.
And why the fuck she aint tell me that she was this nigga’s personal assistant? I thought she worked for some old wrinkly looking dude.
“It‘s nice to finally meet you Dominic. Aston always speaks about you.”
“She does? That‘s funny, ‘cause she never mentioned you.” I said as I made eye contact with her. She quickly looked down and he uncomfortably cleared his throat.
“Well she does mention you, You and your son.”
He looked down at Donovan and Don smiled back.
“Hey, sport.” he said as he rubbed the top of his head.
My jaw clenched and my body tensed. I hated when people touched my son.
Once again, Aston noticed and she walked around her desk to me.
“Thank you again for the food.” she smiled lightly and grabbed the bag out of my hand.
“No problem. ” I mumbled and pecked her lips once.
“So, Dominic, you‘re a delivery man? Am I correct?”
I looked up at this nigga and I swear I heard him snicker after he said that. I’m not the best at hiding my expression ‘cause he caught on real quick and put his hands up in defense.
“I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. I‘ve just seen you in the building a couple of times and that‘s where I recognize you from.”
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Okay. How long has Aston been working for you?”
He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Aston before looking back at me.
“Um, maybe about six months.”
“Six months, huh?”
I turned to Aston and she had the uncomfortable look on her face. But I didn’t care, she should. I swear I didn’t know she was this nigga’s personal assistant and I knew she didn’t tell me ‘cause she thought I was gonna blow it out of proportion.
But surprisingly, today I wasn’t. I was just gonna leave it alone.
“Well, I hope she‘s doing her job well.”
“She is. Aston is great at everything she does…for me.”
He smirked slightly as he placed his hands in his pockets.
I clenched my jaw again and decided to let it go as well. I wasn’t going to jail trying to fight this nigga on some petty shit. Plus, he was a lawyer. He could send my ass away for years for fucking with him the wrong way. So, I just let it go.
“Alright, Donovan let‘s go. ”
“Okay. Bye mommy.”
“Bye baby.” she smiled down at him.
She hesitantly looked up at me and I kissed the side of her mouth.
“We gon‘ talk about this later.” I whispered as I hugged her goodbye.
“It was nice meeting you, Dominic.” Bitch nigga called out as we were heading out the door.
I turned and gave him a slight head nod before heading out.
I see that nigga is gonna be a problem. And Ima handle him one way or another.
damn... we going straight back into the drama huh? her and dom need to have a real talk about their feelings. shit after everything that has happened to her i wouldnt be surprised if she slick has post traumatic stress or some shit. i mean her mom did sell her for crack... to the man she is now engaged to... that kind of shit doesnt just go away.
i think aston may be cheating. if not physically, then she may be having an emotional affair with somebody, she seems very distant. i think she may want independence from dom or just time to find herself. great chapter:) xo
That night when we got home Donovan was already knocked out from running around all day. I carried him to his room and took his suit off before putting his night clothes on. After I tucked him in I kissed his forehead before leaving out.
When I got to the room Aston was already in the shower. I decided I was too tired and that I would just shower in the morning. I stripped from my clothes and got into the cool bed. A part of me wanted to knock out but then there was the other part of me that wanted to talk to Aston. I ain’t mean to walk off on her like that earlier but I was just annoyed with it all that, so I had to walk away. She’s been avoiding me all day though so I knew she was mad. She had every right to be but I was mad too. She keep prolonging this engagement and I ain’t with it. It’s making me think she either have second doubts or she got something else going on that I don’t know about.
Aston wouldn’t do no shit like that.
But there was TJ.
Still. Aston wouldn’t do me dirty like that. Aston know that if she ever cheated on me I would beat her ass, real shit. And besides, that shit that happened with TJ I blame myself for. If I was doing what I had to do for her as her man that TJ shit wouldn’t have happened.
But now I do what I have to, and more. I’m good to her. I’m good to my son. I don’t see why she ain’t married me yet. Shit, I would’ve been married me.
I Decided to play around with my phone a bit until Aston came out the shower.
I checked my email and then looked at my work schedule for the week ahead. I noticed that I was scheduled to stock on Tuesday. I was lowkey pissed as fuck cause that job was for the young boys. Not sayin’ that I’m old, but I’m knocking on thirty’s door and I ain’t for all that heavy lifting.
Just as I was about to email Rich, Aston came out of the bathroom.
“You ‘bout to take a shower?”
I shook my head.
She mumbled something as she got into the bed, but I didn’t quite hear her.
“What was said?”
“Nah, cause I feel like you said something slick under your breath and Ima need you to fix ya attitude. Real shit.”
“Shut the fuck up, Dom, and go to sleep. If anyone got a bad attitude, it‘s you.”
“There you go. Forever talkin‘ shit and tryna flip it on me.”
She then sat up quick and faced me with the craziest look on her face.
“Dominic, don’t YOU fucking start. You‘re forever talkin‘ shit and flippin’ it on me! Today you were way out of line. How are you gonna get mad over something so petty, then get up and leave!”
I took a deep breath.
I wasn’t gonna go off. Yeah, I was wrong for today but she should really forget about that shit. She the one who don’t wanna marry me. If anything, she should be understanding as to why I was mad.
“I went outside to smoke.”
“But it was still rude. I‘m really gonna need you to chill.”
“And Ima need you to tell me when we‘re gonna get married.”
She slightly rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. I could tell she was trying to figure out what she was gonna say.
“When the time is right.”
“Fuck that bullshit. You‘ve been giving that bullshit as excuse for two years. Ain‘t nothing wrong with us. We ain’t broke. We aint fightin’. We aint got no other shit going on right now, so what’s the real reason? Be real with a nigga, cause right now I’m starting to think you don’t wanna marry me. ”
Her eyes softened and then she leaned into me.
“Dom, don’t think that because that‘s not even true. I just- I don’t know. Marriage is a big step-”
“That we take together. Ima be right here, I aint going nowhere.”
She smiled at me but it wasn’t her usual smile. Something seemed off about it but I just decided to let it go.
I kissed her forehead and then we got comfortable in the bed.
“Night, baby. I love you.” I said wrapping my arms around her.
“Goodnight.” she said softly.
“Donovan, what do you want to eat!” I yelled from the kitchen.
It was just me and Don chillin’ in the house on this Sunday afternoon. Aston was out doing Lord knows what, probably shoppin’ with her materialistic ass.
Donovan came running into the kitchen almost busting his ass.
“Slow down, boy. Now, are you hungry?”
“I want cereal.”
“Cereal? You sure?”
He nodded quickly and then climbed onto the bar stool in front of the island.
“Aight. What kind?”
“Fwuity Pebblesth !”
I shook my head and got the cereal from the cabinet. After I poured it in the bowl and got the milk out of the refrigerator, the house phone started to ring.
“Here little man.” I sat the bowl in front of him and jogged toward the phone.
“You not near your phone?” Aston asked.
“Nah. I‘m downstairs in the kitchen.”
“Oh. Well I need you to do me a favor.”
“I had switched purses this morning and I’m at the bank trying to deposit money into my grandma’s account but I need her account number and- ”
“It‘s in you other purse.”
Aston switched purses every week ‘cause she was out buying a new one every fucking week. Told y’all she was materialistic.
“Yeah. So could you go upstairs and get the number for me.”
I huffed. I aint really wanna go upstairs. I was planning on staying downstairs all day.
“You better be lucky I love you.”
“Yeah yeah, hurry boy. I‘m almost to the teller. It‘s written on a white envelope.”
I jogged up the stairs and went to bedroom to find her purse. After I found it sitting on the chair in the corner I spotted the white envelope slightly sticking out. I then read her the number and she hung up quickly ‘cause she had to go.
As I was about to put the envelope back I noticed something that caught my eye. I saw some pills peeking out of a holder that was slightly open.
I reached in and pulled it out. When I opened it completely and saw it fully for myself I already knew what it was.
I was pissed. No, fuck pissed, I was livid. How the fuck was she taking birth control when I thought we were trying for a baby. About a year ago we agreed that we would try for another, a girl this time, and this whole time she been deceiving me and taking fuckin’ birth control.
I wanted to call her up and call her out on her bullshit, but I knew that wouldn’t be the best thing to do. I just decided to let it rock and throw the shit away. She would start to notice it’s missing and start actin’ funny. I know that’s petty but she was beyond petty. Had me thinkin’ we was workin’ on our second child but she over here-let me not, ‘cause I’m getting mad all over again.
Lately something has been going with Aston. I don’t know what it is, but something’s going on and I’m gonna find out what it is. Even if it kills me.
Im so glad you brought them back!!! i missed Dom's crazy ass. i wonder if Aston's hesitation about getting married has something to do with how they met lol (im already not here for all the bad decisions Dom is gonna make concerning this Cara person...)
Lol. People already thinking Cara is gonna be a problem. Uh oh.
Don pouted and I could see the tears about to escape his eyes. I wasn’t having this. Not today.
I leaned down toward him and looked directly into his eyes.
“And you better not fucking cry either.” I said lowly.
I didn’t wanna embarrass my son but he was embarrassing me right now.
Yeah, it was his first haircut and everything and I knew he was a bit scared, but us Brown men fear nothing.
“Look, little man it‘ll be alright. I promise. It wont hurt a bit.” My barber Cease said giving Don a warm smile. Donovan gave Cease the ‘nigga please’ look and Cease looked up at me before shrugging.
I sighed. I did not have the time nor patience for this. Dee’s wedding was in less than two hours and Aston was on my case heavy about getting this boy’s hair cut. I don’t know why she waited ‘til now to get it cut anyway. I been told her I wanted it cut but she wanted my son walkin’ around lookin’ like damn girl with all this curly shit everywhere.
“Maybe you need to get in the chair first and let him see that it’s not so bad.”
“Nigga, I just came in yesterday. You take anymore off and I‘ll be bald.”
“Chill. Ima just edge you up a bit.”
“Aight.” I huffed and then picked Don up from the seat. I sat him in my lap as I sat down and faced him toward me.
“See, look little man.”
Don watched as Cease lined the side of my head. He didn’t do too much because I already had a fresh cut but this was all for show for my son.
Cease just pretended to cut my hair for a little longer until he felt he was done.
“Alright, you done.”
He brushed the back of my shirt and I got up then sat Don in the chair.
“So you see, it wasn‘t bad. Now you ready to get your hair cut like daddy?”
He looked at me for a moment and shook his head.
I sighed again.
“So what‘s plan B?” Cease asked lightly chuckling.
“There ain‘t no plan B. If this nigga don’t have a fade when I get back, it‘s my ass.”
Cease laughed again.
“Yo, I swear you always be talkin‘ tough shit while you in here, but now you shittin‘ bricks.”
I shook my head. This nigga didn’t understand. Having Dee AND Aston mad at me was not a good look. It would be bitchin’ coming from every direction. No. Hell no.
“Nah, it‘s too much estrogen around me.”
He laughed again.
“I feel ya. So what you gonna do about lil man?”
“We gon have to strap him down or something’.”
“Strap him down? Nigga this ain‘t no booster seat.” Cease laughed causing my irritability to increase. This nigga forever laughin’.
I was stressed, as hell. This day was big for my sister and I ain’t wanna ruin it with some bullshit so simple as a haircut.
As if Cease could see the stress on my face, he gave my a sympathetic look.
“Hold on man. I got an idea. ”
“Yo, Cara!” he yelled over to Cara.
Cara was a cute girl. I knew she probably pulled dudes left and right because she worked at a barber shop. Plus, she was nice with the clippers too. She faded me a few times when Cease was out.
I always thought she had a thing for me cause she was always too touchy feely when she lined me up. Then I thought maybe it’s cause she a female and women like to touch, but something in the back of my mind told me differently. But I always made sure to include me having a fiancé and a son when we had our conversations. I wasn’t tryna get caught up.
“What Cease?” she asked annoyed as she walked over to us.
“I need you to help Dom
She looked me over and licked her lips slightly.
I smirked and turned to face my son. You see what I’m talking about.
“My boy is gettin‘ his first cut but he ain‘t havin‘ it.”
“Oh.” she then looked down at Donovan and smiled. “Well, aren‘t you the cutest thing I‘ve ever seen?”
She then leaned down and pinched his cheek. I tried my hardest to bite back the urge to pull her away. I didn’t like when people touched my son without permission.
Don didn’t mind. He just sat there chessin’, lovin’ all the attention he was getting from a woman. Swear my son was gonna be heartbreaker when he was older.
“What‘s your name cutie?”
“Donovan.” he said still holding that smile but it was now turning into a smirk.
“Well, Donovan, how about you get your haircut and you‘ll a special kiss from me. If that‘s okay with your daddy?”
Now if I don’t want you touchin my kid, what in the hell makes you think Ima let you kiss him? No.
But Don had this look on his face with his advanced ass.
So I just nodded, agreeing to anything. I needed to get out of here fast, so I was up for anything that worked.
“But you gotta get your hair cut first, okay?”
“Okay.” Don said sitting back in the chair.
I could just laugh at the thirst my son was showin’ right now. It was comical.
Not to my surprise he sat there, still, while Cease cut his hair. Most of his hair was gone but Cease left a bit at the top and just tapered it up.
“Alright little man, you‘re done.” Cease said as he brushed his back off and Don quickly hopped off the chair.
He nodded and Cease picked him up and stood him on the vanity so he could see himself in the mirror.
“How you think you look?”
“Fly.” Don said excitedly and we all started to laugh.
“Oh man, you hang around your pops too much.”
“Shut up, nigga.”
“He‘s a like a mini you, Dom. Cute and everything.” Cara said as she walked up to Donovan.
Cease gave me a look but a brushed it off. He knew what the deal was.
“Kiss?” Donovan asked as he faced Cara.
She then quickly kissed his cheek.
“There you go.”
“What do you say, Don?”
“You‘re welcome.” Cara laughed.
“Well, we gotta go.” I then picked Don off the vanity and placed him on the floor.
He nodded and waved bye to Cease and Cara.
I prayed to God every step Donovan took as he walked down the isle holding the pillow the ring was on. I don’t know why Dee wanted him to be the ring bearer. I mean he was only three and his coordination and attention span was at an all time low right now. But Dee wanted it and she felt that Zay was too old. So me being a good brother, I let him be in the wedding.
He looked fly in his little tux and new haircut. Aston loved it though. I could see her on Dee’s side about to cry. She looked beautiful in her dress though. She was one of Dee’s bridesmaids and a part of me felt weird about it. I mean we’re here at a wedding, my sister’s wedding, who just got engaged a couple months ago. Me and Aston been engaged three years. I couldn’t lie to you and say that I didn’t feel some type away about it. I want her to be my wife already. We live together, we got a child, we love each other. I’m just waiting for us to make it official.
After the ceremony we migrated to the reception hall. I could see the glows on Dee and Porter’s faces. It was about time them niggas got married though. They been together ten years, so their time is long overdue.
I was sitting at the table by myself while Aston was out there mingling and Donovan was running around following Zay everywhere.
I felt someone sit next to me and I turned to see it was Porter.
“You lookin‘ real lonely over here man.”
I laughed and shook my head.
“I‘m just chillin‘. But congrats dawg. It‘s about time y‘all made it official.”
“Thanks man. So when are you and Aston gon‘ make it happen?”
I scoffed and took a swig of my drink.
“I don’t even know man.”
“Y‘all havin‘ problems?”
I shook my head no. Me and Aston actually been really good. Almost perfect actually.
“So what‘s the hold up?”
“Why don‘t you ask my fiancé.” I said with a bitter taste in my mouth. And as soon as I said it Aston was walking up to us with a smile on her face.
“Hey boys? What are y‘all over here gossiping about?”
“Nothing.” Me and Porter said at the same time.
“Sure?” Aston laughed.
“Yep, but let me get back to my wife. You kids have fun.” Porter said as he left and Aston then sat on my lap.
“You okay?” She asked concerned.
I kissed her and then wrapped my arm around her waist.
“Dee looks gorgeous. Swear she‘s been smiling all day.”
“I know. I‘m happy for them.”
There was a bit of silence and then I grabbed her hand and toyed with her ring a bit.
“So when are we gonna get married?” I asked, trying my luck.
“When the time is right.”
I sucked my teeth.
“You always say that shit.”
“Dom, please don’t do this right now. This aint about us. It‘s about Dee.”
“Whatever.” I mumbled really agitated. “Get up.”
“Dead ass. Get up.”
She looked at me for a moment before getting off my lap. I took the last sip of my drink and walked out of the party leaving her standing there. I stood outside and smoke a cigarette to clear my mind. Too many thoughts were running through my mind. Even the crazy ones were starting to come back.
